Your high-level expertise is going to waste.
If you’re like most business owners, you want to be seen as an expert in your field. After all, your unique experience is why you’re here today. You’ve worked hard to build up your knowledge and skills, and you want to be able to share that with the world.
During the past 10 to 20 years you’ve:
- Worked up to a 5 or 6-figure income
- Taken on high-level responsibilities and completed your job with excellence
- Earned the title of Director, Manager, or Executive within your current organization
… But there’s a problem.
You’re not sharing your expertise with the world. You’re not even sharing it with your customers.
Instead, you’re using it to destroy your business.
You see, there are certain actions business owners take that are incredibly destructive. They might not seem like a big deal at the time, but they can have a profound effect on the success of your business.
So, what are these destructive tactics? And more importantly, how can you avoid them?
1. Refusing to Delegate
You may believe you’re the only one capable of completing certain tasks within your business. That’s simply not true. This is where your hiring abilities start to come into play. There are plenty of professionals out there who are willing and able to help you build your empire.
Delegating doesn’t mean that you’re giving up control of your business. It just means that you’re sharing the workload so that you can focus on what’s most important – continuing to push your vision forward with innovative ideas and creative solutions.
2. Completing Every Task Yourself
Related to the point above, if you want your business to expand, you need to let other experts take the reins in their specific areas of expertise. In other words, know when it’s time for you to get back in your lane!
Trying to do everything yourself is a recipe for burnout.
3. Working Too Much – Yes, There Is Such A Thing…
Sure, you might be able to get away with working 80 hours per week for a certain amount of time, but that’s not sustainable in the long run. Even if you can sustain that level of work for decades, it’s taking a serious toll on your body you may not see until it’s too late.
Eventually, you’re going to need to take a break.
Why not choose to take care of your mind and body now so you can continue working within your passion with the same level of fire for many years to come?
Striking the perfect work-life integration stride is essential to living your dream life.
4. Not Prioritizing Your Time
How many times have you caught yourself staring off into space or scrolling through your phone for “just a few minutes?” Then, those few minutes turned into a couple of hours, and BOOM, your schedule for the day was completely thrown off.
Starting each day with a detailed schedule will protect your mind from wandering between tasks without a plan of attack. Also, creating a list will help you prioritize your responsibilities to ensure your high-ticket responsibilities are being completed during your most productive state.
If you make sure you plan out your days the night before, your efficiency will exponentially increase and the exponential growth of your business will follow suit.
5. Not Sleeping Enough
You don’t have to sleep for 10 hours every single night or any night for that matter but, you do have to make sure your body has time to rest and recharge. Let’s be real here.
Not allowing your body to receive the right amount of rest can cause chronic health problems to develop within your body. From heart disease and kidney disease to obesity and depression, sleep deprivation is no joke.
Not everyone needs the same amount of sleep to stay healthy. Simply listen to your body and make sure you treat it right so it can work for you when you need it most.
6. Not Eating Right
Eating junk food 3 meals a day every single day isn’t the way to go.
No matter who you are or what you do, fast food meals should never be your go-to nourishment option.
I get it. Being on the go makes finding time to cook breakfast and lunch extremely difficult.
Simply set aside time every single week to plan and prep as many meals in advance as possible to ensure your grab-and-go options are going to be packed with nutrients, vitamins, and of course, flavor!
7. Not Taking Vacations
When you hear the word vacation, you may instantly start thinking of skipping town and heading to the beach. Or, maybe booking the next flight to Paris. Although these are traditional representations of vacation, you don’t always have to leave home to rejuvenate yourself.
Taking small breaks every once in a while is extremely important for your mental and physical health. These breaks don’t have to come in the form of two-week-long getaways. You must dedicate a small portion of your day, every single day, to nurture your mental as well as physical health.
This break can come in the form of traveling to be surrounded by other like-minded leaders who are going to fill up your cup with successfully proven business resources that get results. Our Business To Brand Bootcamp in Myrtle Beach is the perfect place to do just that.
Before you know it, your body and mind will start working for you instead of against you when you’re focusing on your next BIG breakthrough.
8. Not Planning for the Future
Where do you see your business in 5 years? 10 years?
Without a plan, it’s easy to get off track and end up in a place you don’t want to be. This is why working towards a long-term vision is essential to your business’ success.
Once you begin to add more members to your team, you must make the vision clear and ensure every member is truly passionate about the role they play in executing the mission and scaling the business to its full potential.
Set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals every step of the way.
9. Not Learning from Your Mistakes
Everyone makes mistakes, we’re human, but let’s not sit on that for too long. The real lesson here is to always learn from your errors so you don’t make them again. As your brand continues to grow, a mistake that costs you $20 right now can cost you $20,000 in the future.
Take some time to reflect on your past mistakes and figure out what you could have done differently. Then, make sure to apply those lessons to your business so those faults never find a way to cause more detriment to your success.
